FEMA READY CAMPAIGN
"FEMA recommend's Americans to educate and empower themselves by following simple steps to prepare for and respond to potential emergencies. FEMA asks individuals to do three key things: get an emergency supply kit, make a family emergency plan, and be informed about different types of emergencies that could occur and their appropriate responses." HPC advocates and promotes FEMA recommendations. HPC will follow FEMA guidelines and provide the community with emergency readiness programs.

HPC can design programs to fit the need of your business or organization. Team members can create a program according to your specified demographic population or create programs to increase safety awareness and build preparedness skills. Any of the programs listed in home and personal preparedness can be included in a custom designed workshop. Emergency Car Kit Basics
Most of our travels are routine trips to work, shopping or family outings and we arrive at our destinations without any unexpected events. But what if your car won't start or you have a flat tire? Do you have the tools in the car to fix the problem? What are the weather conditions? Do you have a blanket to keep the family warm while you are waiting for help or fixing the vehicle? What else may you need? In this class we will demonstrate how to create an emergency car kit and we will give participants checklists to take home to help them create their own kit.

Emergency bag Basics
There are several types of emergency bags but we will address items that should be carried everyday. Just by adding a few small extra items to your bag may save your life. These items are inexpensive and lightweight. We will demonstrate how to create an emergency bag and we will give participants checklists to take home to help them create their own bag.

Emergency grab and go binder Basics
Do you have your birth certificates, car titles, social security cards, bank records, mortgage statements and other pertinent documents in a location that will be accessible to you in an emergency event? We will demonstrate how to create a grab and go binder. We will give participants binder inserts and checklists to take home and create their own binder.
EMERGENCY FOOD SUPPLY BASICS
Do you have a supply of food for a winter emergency? If you are ill and cannot go to the store, do you have someone that can bring food supplies to you? FEMA recommends that you have at least a three day supply of non-perishable food. In this class we will discuss types of food to store, how to store, and participants will leave with food supply checklists.

Seed Saving and Starting Seeds - This workshop is a hands on class with participants putting together a seed starting kit. Participants will take their kits home and care for their plants until time to plant them in their gardens or containers.
Planning a garden and garden basics - Each workshop participant will have a HPC instructor visit their home to conduct a soil test, evaluate garden site, and develop a garden plan. After garden visits are completed participants will attend a garden basics workshop. For participants that are tenants HPC can design an alternative garden plan for you.
